Naidu pushes for power generation from garbage, opens recycling facility in Nellore

Anantapur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday made it clear that his government is firm on producing electric power from garbage.
Speaking after inaugurating a 25-tonne-per-day Material Recycling Facility Centre (MRFC) at Dubagunta in Nellore district on Saturday, the CM wanted officials to create awareness among people in both urban and rural areas about proper disposal of garbage.
The MRFC has been set up by Vizianagaram-based Kandi Mineral Technology Pvt. Ltd. at a cost of ₹45 lakh. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the facility as part of the Swarnandhra-Swachhandhra programme held in Kandukur mandal of Nellore district.
Several leaders attended the event, including municipal administration minister Ponguru Narayana, Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Kandukur MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao.
While inspecting sanitation activities in Dubagunta village, the Chief Minister asked residents whether they segregate their waste. He interacted with senior citizen Bellamkonda Venkateshwarlu and directed officials to increase his monthly pension from ₹4,000 to ₹6,000.
The CM also posed for selfies with children and young girls at the village.
Later, he proceeded to the Kandukur Agricultural Market Committee premises, where he met representatives of various NGOs and local residents. He visited stalls put up by villagers and appreciated their efforts towards keeping the environment clean.
