Naidu Supports ‘One Nation, One Election’
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his full support to a unified electoral system, the One Nation-One Election plan for the country that is currently being finalised for parliamentary nod.
Responding to the possibility of early assembly elections in several states in view of the likely introduction of the single-election system, Naidu said the next state elections in AP would not be affected as such.
“The YSR Congress is resorting to desperate measures to facilitate early elections,” Naidu said and added that the opposition party has lost its credibility among the people.
He emphasized the need to promote the “Swarna Andhra Vision 2047" document among the populace and called for discussions on this at universities, colleges and schools so that more ideas would crop up.
Naidu projected a similar progression by 2047, asserting that the Vision 2047 document is a long-term commitment and not something to be shelved after a single presentation.
Regarding upcoming local body elections, including those for water associations and cooperatives, the chief minister confirmed they would be held as per schedule. He mentioned exciting changes planned for the next collector’s conference, promising to streamline discussions and responses, thereby enhancing the efficiency of governance.
"In our strategy, we will send discussion topics in advance to the collectors and SPs to gather their responses proactively. Improving the use of time and enhancing coordination among ministers and officials is vital," Naidu added.
The chief minister expressed his best wishes for the quick recovery of veteran leader LK Advani and acknowledged the elder statesman’s contributions to the development of Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu on Saturday received grievances from the people at the TD central office NTR Bhavan at Mangalagiri. He promised the people that their problems would be resolved as soon as possible.
Later, he held talks with senior party leaders about elections of water users associations and cooperatives. Minister Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, N Chinna Rajappa, Ashok Babu and others were present.
