A large number of people turned up with complaints even as the CM arrived at the Telugu Desam Party head office in Mangalagiri on Saturday to receive petitions in person from people. He gave a patient hearing to complaints that mostly related to the revenue department and land grabbing.

Naidu acknowledged that complaints are being received against the revenue department, with land scams being exposed in every village and every mandal under the previous government in the name of land resurvey. He said stern action will be taken against officials who have caused trouble to people by changing records.

The Chief Minister assured to come up with a special action plan of accepting petitions pertaining to the revenue department in every district, so that people need not come to the TDP’s central office. He flayed the functioning of the revenue department under the previous government, resulting in a large number of people turning up at the TDP central office with petitions on land issues.

A petitioner Karreddula Vijaya submitted a petition stating that they had five acres of land at Pulivendula, which has been occupied by supporters of former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. She said whenever they try going to their field, they are being beaten up. She sought justice from Naidu.

Another petition related to release of 10 acres of government land worth ₹100 crore from the clutches of land grabbers in the Tirupati municipal limits.

Petitioners also sought jobs, while some wanted pensions. A few asked for nominated posts.

Some people also came forward with donations for developing Amaravati as capital city and to revive Anna canteens. For Amaravati, a farmer N. Prabhakar Rao from Kankipadu donated ₹10 lakh while an aged woman G.V. Manikyamma from Vijayawada donated the gold bangles she wore. Senior citizens Parchuri Raja Babayya and Kamala Kumari from Ayyappanagar in Vijayawada donated ₹2 lakh for Anna canteens.

Naidu thanked all those who donated for Amaravati and Anna canteens.

In a separate development, the Chief Minister expressed shock over the death of four members of a family following the collapse of a building at Chinnavangali village in Chagalamarri mandal of Nandyal district late night on Friday. He announced relief of ₹10 lakh to kin of the deceased family members. He directed officials to deposit ₹10 lakh in the name of second daughter Thallapureddy Guru Prasanna, 15, who is studying in Class 10. She lost her parents and siblings in the mishap.

Naidu instructed officials to provide financial assistance of ₹2 lakh to Prasanna’s grandmother Nagamani, 70.
