National Junior Girls Football Championship Kicks Off in Anantapur

 Anantapur: All India national level football federation for junior girls was started at RDT Stadium at sports village in Anantapur on Saturday. Anantapur collector Dr Vinod kumar formally inaugurated tourney first time in Anantapur area with the inaugural match between Jharkhand and Bihar.

RDT programme director Mancho Ferer was the guest of honour. The championship was hosted under the auspices of the All India Football Federation and Andhra Pradesh Football Association.

S. Venugopal, President of Anantapur district football association and chairman of local organising committee has made all arrangements for the participating teams with the support of RDT. Daniel Pradeep, secretary of APFA, supervised the programme with the assistance of Rajesh Ravuri, director of operations APFA.

The championship is conducted on a league cum knockout basis with four pools of A, B, C, D. The top of the table from all four groups will qualify for the knockout to semi-finals. Winners of the semi-final 1 and semi final 2 will play the finals of to be held on August 20 at RDT.

A match between Himachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh was conducted on Saturday afternoon. Speaking on the occasion, collector Dr Vinod Kumar praised RDT for hosting a national level football tourney for girls in Anantapur.
