National meet on IPR starts at NACIN, Palasamudram

CBIC member (Customs) Surjit Bhujabal inaugurating the three-day-long conference at NACIN in Palasamudram of Satya Sai district on Wednesday.

ANANTAPUR: National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) and the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) are hosting a three-day National Conference on Enforcement and Capacity Building in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) at NACIN’s new campus in Palasamudram of Satya Sai district from Wednesday.

Inaugurating the conference, CBIC member (Customs) Surjit Bhujabal emphasised on the role of customs' authorities in enforcing the IPR in India, leveraging technology, and devising strategies against IPR violations, apart from strengthening collaboration among government agencies, rights holders and international organisations for developing a unified approach towards protection of intellectual property rights in the country.

The conference is focusing on themes, including strengthening inter-agency coordination for effective IP administration and enforcement, engaging with holders of IPR rights, and addressing the challenges faced by them in IP protection.

Senior officials from various government agencies, representatives from international organisations, industry associations and IP right holders are participating in the national conference.

A key highlight of the conference will be showcasing of NACIN Palasamudram's state-of-the-art Immersive Training Centre, which is dedicated to IPR enforcement. This cutting-edge facility is designed to provide comprehensive training to CBIC officers and other stakeholders in the complexities of IPR laws and their enforcement.

The facility also includes a self-learning space with structured content on major IPR cases, enabling an in-depth understanding of IPR laws, leading to their practical application.
