VIJAYAWADA: Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) is set to roll out a national roadmap to promote energy-efficient technologies among Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), with Andhra Pradesh emerging as a key adopter.
Principal secretary (industries) Dr N. Yuva Raj said the state is taking proactive steps to integrate sustainability with industrial growth, aligning with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of technology-driven development, employment generation and environmental sustainability.
Officials said the roadmap builds on programmes such as UJALA, the Street Lighting National Programme, distributed solar and smart metering. It aims to transform energy-intensive MSMEs through scalable solutions, innovative financing and global technology integration.
Dr Yuva Raj said the initiative has already shown success in states including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. In Andhra Pradesh, a memorandum of understanding signed during the CII Global Summit in Visakhapatnam is being seen as a replicable model.
The programme integrates initiatives such as the UNIDO–GEF–EESL programme, BEE–EESL MSME initiatives, the ADEETIE scheme and an ESCO-based deployment model. Officials said strong Centre–State coordination will be key to implementation.
Dr Yuva Raj said the initiative is expected to enhance competitiveness, reduce costs and improve productivity in the MSME sector.
