Nellore Man sets scooter and dog on fire over mobile phone dispute

A man allegedly set a scooter and a pet dog on fire after a dispute over a damaged mobile phone. The incident occurred in the Chemudugunta Panchayat of Venkatachalam mandal in the Nellore district late Tuesday night.
The accused, identified as Sk. Farid reportedly argued with the victim, D. Narasimha, a car driver, over a phone belonging to Farid’s friend. Farid accused Narasimha of damaging the phone’s display and left angrily. Later that night, he returned with petrol, poured it on Narasimha’s parked scooter and tied-up pet dog, and set them ablaze.
Hearing the dog’s cries, Narasimha’s family rushed out and managed to rescue the severely injured animal. While the scooter was completely destroyed, the dog is currently receiving treatment for critical injuries.

Police have filed a complaint based on the CCTV footage that captured the incident. Animal rights activists are demanding strict action under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and other relevant laws.
