A pall of grief descended upon A.C. Subbareddy Government Medical College in Nellore on National Doctors' Day, following the sudden passing of Dr Namburu Jyothi.

The 38-year-old junior civil surgeon died by suicide during a break in a cancer training programme.
Dr Jyothi was attending the program on Monday when the tragic incident occurred. The Darghamitta circle inspector, Altaf Hussain, confirmed her service as a junior civil surgeon at the Primary Health Centre in Chittaluru, Chejerla mandal. Her husband, Dr Ravi Babu, is an orthopaedic specialist at the same medical college.
The circumstances surrounding Dr Jyothi’s death are under investigation. While the cause remains undetermined, initial reports suggest possible domestic issues as a contributing factor. Darghamitta police have registered a case and are working to establish the complete picture behind this heartbreaking event.
