Vijayawada:Irrigation minister mimmala Ramanaidu has directed irrigation department officials to coordinate with elected representatives and undertake relief measures in the rain-affected areas of the state. He convened a meeting with irrigation department officials to review the current rain and flood situation.

Addressing the officials, Ramanaidu instructed them to remain vigilant, as the meteorological department has issued a red alert for the united Krishna and Guntur districts. He emphasised that officers at all levels must be available. He also asked the irrigation department, along with revenue department officials, to continually assess the rain and flood situation.

He further stated that the Budameru canal is overflowing with floodwater, and residents in downstream areas should be alerted. Officials should assess water levels and coordinate with other departments. Additionally, heavy rains in Mangalagiri, Kanteru, and Koppuravuru have caused floodwater to spill onto the national highway, resulting in breaches in the Guntur irrigation channel, with floodwater entering Namburu and Kakani villages.

Meanwhile, Kollu Ravindra reviewed the rain and flood situation in the NTR and Krishna districts virtually with the district collectors. He directed them to move people living in low-lying areas to safety. He also enquired about waterlogging in low-lying areas of Vijayawada city and instructed irrigation department officials to ensure the smooth flow of rainwater in the canals.
