Vijayawada: The Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has announced it will not issue Occupancy Certificates (OCs) for newly proposed multi-storey buildings that violate construction norms. GMC Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu stressed that ramps leading onto roads and constructions over drainage systems are strictly prohibited, warning that non-compliant buildings will be denied OCs.

During an inspection of OC applications in Gorantla and Reddypalem, Srinivasulu assessed setbacks, road access, ramp placements, and drainage encroachments. He instructed officials to ensure strict adherence to regulations for future constructions.
The commissioner reiterated the importance of adhering to government-approved building norms and directed urban planning officials to issue notices for non-compliance. He emphasised maintaining greenery as per sanctioned plans, ensuring setbacks are free of encroachments, and connecting drainage lines directly to main systems.
Assistant City Planners Rehman and Mallikarjuna, along with TPS officers Lakshman Swamy and Satyanarayana, accompanied the commissioner during the inspection, supported by ward secretariat planning secretaries.
