Paderu's Modakondamma Jatara in Class 10 syllabus
In 2014, the state government officially designated Modakondamma Jatara as a state fair. It has now been included in the 10th class Telugu syllabus
VISAKHAPATNAM: Modakondamma Jatara, hosted in Paderu, has been included in the 10th Class Telugu syllabus by the Andhra Pradesh government.
This jatara is an annual three-day event taking place in May and is celebrated in a grand manner.
Notably, in 2014, the state government officially designated Modakondamma Jatara as a state fair. It has now been included in the 10th class Telugu syllabus.
However, not everyone is in favour of this development. While locals have cheered the government's move, teachers have opposed it.
Teacher M. Gnanaprasuna, a member of the Save Education Committee and a school assistant, has voiced her concerns.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, she said, "Rural students grow up surrounded by superstitions. They should be educated with a scientific temperament. Removing Darwin's theory of evolution and introducing such fairs in the syllabus will do more harm than good to the students."
