Vijayawada: A pani puri vendor from Tenali got an invitation from Rashtrapati Bhavan to take part in the Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi on Aug. 15.

Megaverth Chiranjeevi has been in the business for the last 24 years. He ran the petty trade by taking a loan of `10,000, `20,000 and `50,000 under the Pradhan Mantri Svanidhi Yojana over a period of time. He used to promptly clear the loans.

This won him praise and entitled him to the invite for the Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi.

An elated Megaverth said, “I am delighted beyond words. This was beyond my expectations. I used to listen to the Radio commentary and watch the show on TV during the past I-Day celebrations. Now, I got a chance to be personally present there. I am grateful to Rashtrapati Bhavan for giving such a rare opportunity to a commoner like me.”

“This shows how President Droupadi Murmu cares for the ordinary people of this country,” he added.
