Pawan puts home minister on notice: DGP, Intelligence warned against leniency to criminals
Kakinada:Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has issued a stern warning to those who commit offences against women.
He also took a dig at home minister V Anitha, the DGP and the Intelligence Department.
Stated PK, ”If the home minister is lenient vis-a-vis strong steps against criminals, I will have to take the reins of the home ministry into my hands. Then the situation would be different.”
Action will be taken against criminals in AP on the lines of what Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adithya Nath does, he said.
The deputy CM also warned the opposition (YSRC) leaders that if they criticised the government, the government would take note, “but if they feel as if they are still running the government, they would face the consequences.”
He also made it clear that nobody can split the NDA alliance in the state and at the Centre.
Pawan Kalyan inaugurated several development works on Monday at an event got up in the Zilla Parishad high school for boys at Gollaprolu in Pithapuram constituency in Kakinada district.
As PK was addressing the gathering, a woman belonging to Tadepalligudem rose and urged him to speak about the government’s responses to the atrocities on young girls and women in the state. Pawan Kalyan was majorly disturbed by this issue. Shaking with emotion, he issued an ultimatum to the home minister, saying that he would have to take the reins of the home ministry into his hands, “if stringent action is not taken against such criminals.”
The deputy CM also took a dig at the state DGP and the Intelligence wing of the state police. “The DGP took charge four months back, but there is palpable leniency on his part in taking action against criminals,” he said.
“I am holding the forest ministry. The home minister should think about her responsibility. We promised the people that we will provide protection to girls and women. During the YSRC government, 30,000 girls and women went missing. Now the women are asking the government about their security,” he noted.
Pawan Kalyan went on, “The DGP and state Intelligence should not take into consideration the aspects of caste or religion when criminals raped 3-year and 5-year-old girls. The lawlessness in the state was something that we had inherited from the previous government. Urgent steps should be taken to restore law and order in the state.’’
He noted, “Criminals threatened me and my daughters and Chandrababu’s wife and their family members. The police in the previous government could not take any action against those criminals. After seeing such threats in social media, the police should have put those criminals in jails. But they could not do so.”
The deputy CM asserted, “I would not remain silent if the police follow such an attitude now. Law and order should be strengthened. Act as per law. Police must ensure a peaceful life to the people. Criminals should not think that the patience of the government is due to its inability to face situations. We will act firmly.”
Pawan Kalyan expressed his anger over the sand mafia when one among the audience posed a question to him. He said the chief minister has introduced the free-sand policy and the consumers can take the sand free of cost by either mining it or otherwise. “They can engage vehicles on their own cost.”
However, he noted that sand has become a source of revenue to some MLAs. He called upon the NDA MLAs to change their attitude and behave with humanity in the sand issue. He also told the MLAs not to play petty games in their constituencies. Telugu Desam leader and the former MLA SVSN Varma and others were present.
