Kakinada: A large number of people are thronging the Uppada coast near Kakinada following storms in the sea.

In the past, a couple of persons had found gold ornaments thrown ashore from the sea. Thus, whenever the sea is turbulent, fortune hunters have been thronging the Kakinada-Uppada coastline hoping to strike gold.

During cyclones in the past, ancient silver coins had been on the shore of Konapapapeta in U. Kothapalli mandal. Now that the sea at Uppada is very rough, people are rushing to U. Kothapalli from Kakinada through Thimmapuram and Panduru route.

An archaeologist pointed out that there had been many forts, temples and palaces in the region that had got washed away into the sea. Valuables gone loose at these structures are now washing ashore.
