Pichukalanka to be developed as tourism spot
Kakinada: Tourism minister Kandula Durgesh said that Pichukalanka village in Atreyapuram mandal of Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district would be developed as a beautiful tourism spot as there is vast natural beauty of wealth in the islet. Oberoi company representatives headed by its vice-chairman R. Sankar visited Pichukalanka on Monday along with Durgesh, Rajamahendravaram rural MLA Gorantla Buchaiah Chowdary, Kothapeta MLA Bandaru Satyananda Rao and the Konaseema collector R. Mahesh Kumar. Durgesh said that representatives of the company had held discussions with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on developing the islet village and already the company had built villas and resorts at Gandikota, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam.
The collector told representatives that there are a number of historical and sacred temples in the two Godavari districts such as Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Temple at Annavaram, Pancharama Kshetras at Samalkot, Draksharama, Bhimavaram and Palakole, Kukkuteswara Swamy and Puruhutika Devi temples (one of the Shakti Peethas) at Pithapuram, Lakshmi Janardhana Swamy temple at Dowleswaram, Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Korukonda, Ecotourism places in Maredumilli, natural beauties like coconut gardens, floriculture and others in Konaseema District and others.
He said that if resorts are constructed in the Pichukalanka area, it would benefit pilgrims and tourists. He said that the 56 acres of land towards the north side of the village can be allocated for tourism development as it is a hub to all pilgrims to visit the two Godavari districts with road, rail and airport connectivity.
Chowdary said that due to promotion of tourism projects, there will be a large number of employment opportunities directly and indirectly and Kadiyapulanka is suitable for boat riding and Havelock bridge would be developed as a tourism spot.
Satyananda Rao said that Konaseema district and also Pichukalanka are suitable for making it a tourism hub.
