Police Arrest Serial Chain Snatcher in Srikakulam

 Visakhapatnam: Srikakulam District Police have apprehended a criminal involved in a series of chain-snatching incidents targeting women on motorcycles across multiple jurisdictions. The suspect was found in possession of stolen gold jewellery worth approximately Rs 7.77 lakh.

District Superintendent of Police K.V. Maheshwara Reddy announced the arrest during a press conference at the District Police Office on Sunday. The accused, identified as Narthu Rajesh from Bairipuram village in Kaviti mandal, was taken into custody on 21 December at Kojjaria Junction.

"The investigation led to the recovery of 8.25 tolas of gold connected to multiple cases registered across Kaviti, Kanchili, and Ichchapuram town police stations," the SP stated. The recovered items were linked to at least six separate incidents in the region.

During the press conference, the SP outlined enhanced security measures being implemented throughout the district. "We are strengthening surveillance by installing additional CCTV cameras and intensifying patrol operations in vulnerable areas," he added.
