Police Continue Seizures Ahead of Vote Counting in AP

 Vijayawada: AP director general of police Harish Kumar Gupta said state police are continuing their cordon and search operations in the state to ensure that elections in Andhra Pradesh conclude peacefully.

He pointed out that so far 579 areas in AP have been cordoned off and searched since May 27, including important intersections, villages and houses of habitual offenders and history sheeters.

Police have seized 3,524 vehicles for not having proper documents. 16 people have been arrested. 307 litres of liquor, 67 litres of non-duty-paid liquor and 1,400 litres of fermented jaggery wash have been seized.

The DGP underlined that cordon and search operations will continue. He asked public to inform police about illegalities going on in their area, so that peace could be ensured in the society.
