Prakasam District Celebrates Formation Day

Kurnool: Prakasam district celebrated its Formation Day on Sunday. Minister Veeranjaneya Swamy paid floral tributes to the statue of Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu in Ongole town. Legislators Damacharla Janardhan and B.N. Vijaya Kumar, AP Tourism Corporation chairman N. Balaji, and collector A. Thameem Ansaria were present.

Prakasam district SP A.R. Damodar and police officers honoured Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu by garlanding his portrait at the district police office. The Prakasam district Flag was also unfurled there for the first time.

The SP noted that the district was originally formed as Ongole district on February 2, 1970, from parts of Nellore, Kurnool, and Guntur districts. It was renamed Prakasam district on December 5, 1972, in memory of the patriot and Andhra leader. He highlighted the district's rich heritage, folk arts, granite industry, and notable tourist spots, as well as its progress over the past 56 years.

Additional SP (Admin) K. Nageswara Rao, Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao, A.R. DSP Srinivasa Rao, and other officials participated in the celebrations.
