Kakinada: Water resources minister Nimmala Rama Naidu said that the alliance government would provide pure drinking water to 95.44 lakhs homes in the state under the Jal Jeevan Mission and drinking water to people twice a day.

Inaugurating drinking water supply schemes at Kaja east and west and Utada villages at a cost of Rs 2.31 crore on Sunday, he said the previous government neglected the Jala Jeevan Mission programme and drinking water schemes and the funds were diverted leading to the expiry of the Jal Jeevn mission period.
But, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minster Pawan Kalyan pursued with the Centre and the central government extended the scheme again. He said the state government appealed to Centre to release Rs 55,000 crore under Jal Jeevan mission.
He said that the alliance government paid Rs 1,674 crore paddy arrears pending from the YSRC government. Now, the state government credits paddy amounts to farmers within 48 hours. He said the state government is making every effort to make agriculture profitable for farmers by removing weeds from drains and canals.
