Rain likely in south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema today

Visakhapatnam: Cyclone Fengal, which crossed the north Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts on Saturday night, weakened into a deep depression by Sunday evening. The system triggered heavy rainfall and strong winds over the south coastal and Rayalaseema districts of Andhra Pradesh, flooding low-lying areas in parts of Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, and YSR Kadapa districts. It also caused significant damage to crops in several regions.
Normal life was disrupted in parts of Tirupati, Nellore, Sullurpeta, Kavali, Nagari, and other areas due to heavy rainfall. The downpour damaged crops in sections of coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema districts.
The Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC) in Visakhapatnam has predicted heavy rain in isolated places across Annamayya, Tirupati, and Chittoor districts on Monday, 2 December. Light to moderate rainfall is expected across many locations in south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, with similar conditions in a few parts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Squally weather with wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the south coastal Andhra Pradesh coastline on Monday. Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea.
Fengal is the second cyclone of the post-monsoon season to affect the Indian coast, following Cyclone Dana, which crossed Odisha as a severe cyclone in late October, causing extensive damage.
According to IMD-Amaravati, Sullurpeta in Tirupati district recorded the highest rainfall of 17 cm between 8:30 am on Saturday and 8:30 am on Sunday. This was followed by 15 cm in Tada (Tirupati), 13 cm in Nagari (Chittoor), 12 cm in Kodur (YSR Kadapa), and 11 cm each in Satyavedu and Venkatagiri (Tirupati). Other significant rainfall measurements included 10 cm in Palasamudram (Chittoor), 9 cm each in Thottambedu, Srikalahasti, and Tirupati (Tirupati district), as well as Rapur in Nellore district.
