Visakhapatnam:Weather officials have issued forecasts indicating potential rainfall during the upcoming Sankranti Festival, as multiple weather systems actively influence the Indian subcontinent's weather patterns.

The Meteorological Department reports a significant cyclonic circulation over the Southwest and adjoining South Bay of Bengal, extending up to 3.1 kilometres above mean sea level. This system, combined with prevailing northeasterly-easterly winds over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, is expected to impact local weather conditions.

In a five-day forecast, officials have outlined a pattern of intermittent thunderstorm activity. While the first day is expected to remain dry, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely to affect isolated places in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh from Sunday, with similar conditions persisting through Monday.

Meanwhile, the Skymet weather service has identified multiple weather systems across the country, including a western disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir and adjoining North Pakistan, a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan, and additional systems over the southeastern Arabian Sea near Kerala's coast and the Bay of Bengal extending to Bangladesh.

For the next 24 hours, coastal regions, including Tamil Nadu, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Lakshadweep, should prepare for light to moderate rainfall.
