AP Revenue Department Seizes 15 Acres Allocated to Sharada Peetham
Visakhapatnam: The revenue department has reclaimed 15 acres of high-value land at Rishikonda, near Kothavalasa in Bheemili mandal, which had been previously allocated by the former YSRC government to the Visakha Sharada Peetham. The land, initially granted at a nominal rate of Rs.1 lakh per acre, was later found to hold a market value of approximately Rs.15 crore per acre, bringing the total worth of the property to Rs.225 crore. This disparity raised serious concerns regarding the undervaluation of the land.
Following an investigation, the current alliance government directed the revenue department to seize the land, citing irregularities in the previous allocation. Officials from the revenue department conducted a panchnama — a formal procedure for documenting the property’s seizure — on Thursday. Revenue Special Chief Secretary Sisodia was informed of the procedural completion.
Revenue officials stated that the reclaimed land will undergo a formal reassessment to prevent similar undervaluations in future transactions. The government emphasized that the move was essential to safeguard public resources and ensure fair use of state-owned assets.
This recent reclamation highlights a growing focus on reviewing allocations made by previous administrations, especially when public lands are involved. It also underscores the current government’s commitment to addressing property-related irregularities and securing state resources against misuse.
