Robbers break in ATM, make off with Rs 30 lakh
A three-member gang reached the ATM and destroyed the CC cameras at around 3 am and then broke the machine with gas cutters
ANANTAPUR: Robbers in the wee hours of Sunday looted Rs 30 lakh from an ATM of State Bank of India at Ram Nagar in Anantapur after breaking the machine with gas cutters. Police suspect the hand of an interstate robbers’ gang.
A three-member gang reached the ATM and destroyed the CC cameras at around 3 am and then broke the machine with gas cutters. They robbed Rs 30 lakh from the machine. The gang reportedly parked their vehicle at a distance to skip CC camera surveillance.
Fourth town CI Prathap Reddy said, “We are verifying all vehicles at toll plazas but are still clueless about the offenders.”
The private agency handling cash in ATMs didn’t post security guards at the ATM.
A police official said private agencies depended on insurance when robbery occurs at ATMs instead of taking minimum security measures at ATMs.
