Visakhapatnam: ASR district collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar on Wednesday announced a comprehensive survey to set up a rural small-scale industries park which will focus on tribal products.

This was discussed at a meeting in the collectorate Wednesday convened to explore ways to set up an industrial park in Paderu. The meeting emphasized, among other things, the potential for setting up of small-scale industries under ITDA.

The district collector proposed forming a committee under the leadership of the ITDA project officer. The collector highlighted dominant cultivation of coffee, pepper, pineapple, custard apples, ginger, turmeric, tamarind, cabbage, and tomatoes in the tribal area. Establishing an industry in Gondipakalu area of Chintapalli mandal would benefit the tribals.

The district collector emphasised the need for a detailed project report, with Chintapalli mandal being considered for a pilot project location. The involvement of SHGs in the industrial park was also discussed.

The collector underlined the importance of completing the survey by October 2 and expediting the land acquisition.

Prakhar Andle, director of rural renaissance organisation from Chhattisgarh provided insights into establishing a rural industrial park in Chhattisgarh through a presentation.
