SCR Team Shoots Gold at 14th All India Railway Archery Champ

Vijayawada: In an impressive display of archery, the South Central Railway (SCR) team clinched the coveted gold medal at the 14th All India Railway Archery Championship at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) from September 23 to September 25, 2024. All the four players representing the compound team event hail from Vijayawada division, showcasing the division’s exceptional talent and contribution to SCR's triumph.

Narendra A. Patil, divisional railway manager, Vijayawada division said the winning team comprised Y. Charan Reddy, office superintendent, personnel branch, Vijayawada, G. Baji Nagul Meera, helper, electrical train lighting, Vijayawada, S. Thirumalai Kumar, booking supervisor, Vijayawada and J. Ganga Mohan, train manager, Vijayawada.

He praised that the divisional players demonstrated exceptional skill, precision and dedication, outscoring strong contenders from across the country. Their outstanding performance was evident in both the semifinals and finals. In the final event, SCR defeated North Western Railway (NWR) with a score of 218/240 to clinch the gold medal.

Narendra Patil praised the efforts of the winning team. The DRM stated that we are extremely proud of our talented archers from Vijayawada division who have brought glory to the South Central Railway zone. He further said that their hard work, teamwork, and dedication paid off at the national level and shall be an inspiration for the young talents.
