Senior Official Succumbs to Burns

Visakhapatnam: A senior official at the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Malleswara Rao, has passed away from injuries sustained in an accident, despite receiving treatment at a private hospital early on Thursday morning. He suffered severe burns on Tuesday when molten steel from a moving transfer car fell on him in the ladle preparation bay of Steel Melting Shop-1. Rao primarily sustained burns to both legs and was initially taken to Visakha Steel General Hospital before being transferred to a corporate hospital for advanced care.

In a separate incident, a contract labourer named Suryanarayana, aged 39 sustained a minor injury after falling from a height in the RMHP department of the steel plant around midnight on Wednesday. He was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Parvathipuram embraces drone technology for efficient agriculture

Visakhapatnam: The Parvatipuram Manyam district has taken a significant step towards modernising its agricultural practices by introducing drone services. A first-of-its-kind drone spraying operation was conducted in the paddy fields of Meesala Ravi Kumar, a farmer from Chakali Belgam village in Parvathipuram Mandal, on Thursday.

The drone services were used to spray pesticides over an area of approximately 20 acres, in the presence of officials from the agriculture department and Rasthakuntubai Krishi Vigyan Kendra. During his address, the District Collector highlighted the potential of drone services to revolutionise various sectors beyond agriculture. He also instructed officials to explore the use of drones for controlling vector-borne diseases by effectively spraying substances in water sources.

Heritage walk rally organised to showcase historical sites in Vizag

Visakhapatnam: In celebration of World Tourism Day on 27 September, a Heritage Walk rally was organised to highlight the significance and uniqueness of historical sites and buildings in the district. The District Tourism Council arranged the Heritage Walk, which began at the Town Hall on Thursday morning and passed through several key areas. During the event, tourism officials collectively presented posters and wallpapers and led a rally to emphasise the importance of recognising and preserving historical landmarks for future generations. Participants encouraged everyone to join in and help make World Tourism Day a success.

The regional director of the tourism department, Srinivasa Phani, district tourism officer Gnanaveni, APTDC EE Ramana, council members, officials, and others attended the programme.
