Six Missing at Sea, Three Bodies Recovered
Kurnool: Five people went missing after venturing into the sea for a bath at Pakala beach in Singarayakonda mandal, Prakasam district, on Thursday. Marine police, along with local fishermen, launched a search operation upon receiving the distress call. The bodies of three youngsters—N. Jessica, 15, and N. Madhava Rao, 25, both from Shivannapalem, Ponnaluru mandal, and Yamini, 16, from Kollagunta village, Kandukuru mandal—were recovered and taken to the Kandukur area hospital for post-mortem. In a heroic effort, local fishermen and a constable saved Madhava Rao's wife, who had been caught in the strong currents. The search for another missing person is ongoing.
Social welfare Minister Dr. Dola Bala Veeranjaneya Swamy expressed his shock over the tragedy and personally supervised the search operation with revenue officials. He extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and emphasised the importance of preventive measures to avoid such incidents in the future. The Minister also urged residents to exercise caution near beaches. He assured the immediate completion of post-mortem procedures. District SP A.R. Damodar also visited the spot, interacting with police personnel and fishermen involved in the rescue efforts.
