Kurnool:District collector P. Ranjit Basha emphasised the government's commitment to providing quality liquor to consumers through advanced testing mechanisms. During his visit to the regional excise laboratory at the prohibition and excise complex on Saturday, he reviewed the operations of newly installed machines such as gas chromatography and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).

The collector explained that these machines ensure liquor quality and quantity in accordance with Bureau of Indian Standards. Tests are conducted to check for metals like copper and lead, ensuring they remain within permissible limits. He stressed that these measures aim to protect public health by offering safer, quality liquor. Assistant collector Challa Kalyani, assistant commissioner of excise Hanumantha Rao, excise superintendent Sudheer Babu, chemical examiner Haritha, and other officials were present during the inspection.
