Chief Secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad has directed the police department to strengthen the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) in Andhra Pradesh. Chairing a state-level apex committee meeting on CCTNS and the Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) on Tuesday, he emphasised strict adherence to central government guidelines.
Prasad instructed officials to procure software, equipment, and security-related devices based on technical committee recommendations. He highlighted the upcoming Southern Zonal Council meeting on January 31, where he plans to discuss the project's implementation and seek additional central support.
Vijayawada Police Commissioner and CCTNS nodal officer Rajasekhar Babu presented the project's progress, noting ₹88 crore sanctioned out of an estimated ₹238 crore. Initiated in 2012, CCTNS connects the state database with the National Data Centre, enabling real-time updates of FIRs, charge sheets, and crime analytics.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including CID IG Vineeth Brij Lal, Secretary of Law G. Pratibha Devi, and AP DGP Ch Dwaraka Tirumala Rao (virtually).
