With the YSRC losing heavily in the state, a change in GVMC appears to be on cards. Of the 56 corporators, 15 are said to be in touch with various newly elected MLAs of the Telugu Desam. It is against this backdrop that there is speculation about a no-confidence motion being moved in the GVMC.

Visakhapatnam: Telugu Desam Party’s Visakhapatnam South constituency in-charge Seetamraju Sudhakar has proposed that a no-confidence motion be moved in the council of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) as YSRC no more commands a majority in the council.

Seetamraju Sudhakar, however, referred to a rule that the GVMC mayor needs to complete a four-year term. "We are waiting for our leadership's direction in this matter," he stated.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the TDP leader said, "We are not in touch with YSRC corporators. They are in touch with us. TD will admit into the party only those corporators who work with integrity and sincerity."

In the GVMC elections held in March 2021, YSRC won 59 seats, TD 30, Jana Sena three, CPI, CPM, and BJP one each, and independents won four seats. Three YSRC corporators later joined the TD.

However, with the YSRC losing heavily in the state, a change in GVMC appears to be on cards. Of the 56 corporators, 15 are said to be in touch with various newly elected MLAs of the Telugu Desam. It is against this backdrop that there is speculation about a no-confidence motion being moved in the GVMC council.

Anticipating the move, YSRC Rajya Sabha member Y.V. Subba Reddy met the party corporators. He advised them not to succumb to temptations,

It is said not many corporators attended the meeting called by Subba Reddy, revealing the internal dynamics within the YSRC under the changed circumstances.
