TD Govt. Allocated More Funds for Irrigation Projects Compared to YSRC: Nimmala
Anantapur: Irrigation minister Nimmala Rama Naidu criticised the previous YSRC government for neglecting irrigation projects, leading to significant damage over the last five years. Speaking during his inspection of the historic Gandikota Reservoir in Kadapa district on Sunday, Rama Naidu stated that while the previous government allocated only Rs 2,000 crore for irrigation, the TDP government had allocated Rs 12,400 crore between 2014 and 2019, prioritising projects in Rayalaseema.
He stressed that the completion of pending works for the Handri Neeva project, a crucial source of water for Rayalaseema, was a top priority. The minister also noted that the TDP government had paid 95% of compensation to farmers affected by land acquisitions for the Gandikota Reservoir.
