TD, JS leaders file nominations for MLC bypoll of July 12

As the TD-JS-BJP alliance announced their names to fill up the two vacancies in the council under the MLAs quota, the duo filed their nomination papers before the returning officer Vijaya Raju at assembly committee hall.

Vijayawada: Telugu Desam leader C. Ramachandraiah and Jana Sena leader P. Hari Prasad filed their nomination papers here on Tuesday for the bypolls to the AP Legislative Council under MLAs quota on July 12.

As the TD-JS-BJP alliance announced their names to fill up the two vacancies in the council under the MLAs quota, the duo filed their nomination papers before the returning officer Vijaya Raju at assembly committee hall.

TD nominee Ramachandraiah hails from Gudlavaripalle of Lakkireddipalli mandal of Annamayya district. He joined TD in 1985 and served as a minister in 1986 and was elected as member of Rajya Sabha twice. He joined the Praja Rajyam in 2008 and shifted to the Congress as Praja Rajyam was merged with it, and got elected as an MLC in 2011. He served as a minister in the Congress government. He joined the YSRC in 2018 and was elected as MLC in 2021 but quit the party on January 3, 2024.

Jana Sena nominee Hariprasad hails from Eluru and served in the media field for a long time. Currently, he is serving the Jana Sena as political secretary to Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan.

Sources say that given the strength of TD-JS-BJP alliance strength in the Assembly, the election of both the nominees as MLCs may be unanimous.
