ANANTAPUR: The Navyandhra Teachers Association has urged the state government to initiate a judicial investigation into the illegal promotions of Assistant Directors in the Education Department. The union's leaders, state president Karanam Harikrishna and secretary Maganti Srinivasa Rao, highlighted that these promotions have violated established norms over the past five years.
The association claims that more than 22 assistant directors, who were promoted to deputy education officer (DEO) roles, should be reverted to their original posts. They allege that seven Assistant Directors were promoted to Diet Principal positions without fulfilling the required qualifications. The union further criticized the lack of basic knowledge of psychology among these officials, pointing out that in other states, Assistant Directors are not assigned district-level posts in the Education Department.
Harikrishna emphasized that the promotions of DEOs, DyEOs, and Diet Principals across the state should be investigated by a sitting judge to ensure accountability. He also referenced a High Court order that grants only Zilla Parishad principals and mandal education officers the authority to take additional responsibilities for the DEO role.
