Kurnool: A road accident claimed the lives of three women when a speeding car collided with an auto near Dharmapuram in Nandavaram mandal on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Veera Nagamma, 69, Gowramma 60, and Bibi, 32. Razia, the young daughter of auto driver Gani Basha, suffered minor injuries and was shifted to Yemmiganur Government Hospital for treatment.

According to police, auto driver Gani Basha and his family, from Mantralayam, had visited Sultanpur Dargah the previous night as part of a tradition, spending the night there on Amavasya day. They set off early Saturday morning in their auto rickshaw, accompanied by Veera Nagamma and Gowramma from Halaharvi village, who had visited the Beerappa temple and were returning to Nandavaram. Within two kilometres from there, the accident occurred, claiming the lives of the two elderly women and Bibi, Gani Basha’s wife.
Police, led by Nandavaram Sub Inspector V. Srinivasulu, arrived at the spot and began their investigation. Initial assessments indicate that excessive speed of the car was a likely factor, causing both vehicles to veer off the road on impact. Nandavaram police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
