Dairy giant Amul on Friday clarified that they have never supplied ghee to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) for the preparation of laddu.

In a statement, Amul said, “This is in reference to some social media posts mentioning that Amul Ghee was being supplied to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam(TTD). We wish to inform that we have never supplied Amul Ghee to TTD.”

Amul further clarified that the milk in their diaries goes through stringent quality checks. ”We also wish to clarify Amul Ghee is made from Milk at our state-of-the-art production facilities which are ISO certified. Amul Ghee is made from high quality pure milk fat. The milk received at our dairies passes through stringent quality checks including adulteration detection as specified by FSSAI.”

The statement was issued to counter what Amul described as a “misinformation campaign.”

On Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu sparked a controversy by alleging that animal fat was used in place of ghee for preparation of the Tirumala laddu prasadam during the YSRC rule of the state.

The opposition YSR Congress on Friday has moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking a probe into the allegations of Chandrababu Naidu that adulterated ghee was recently used for laddu at TTD.
