Vijayawada: A team of workers from the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has been working tirelessly in Vijayawada for the past four days, undertaking cleaning up operations and reaching crucial flood relief to the affected people. The team of 80 MCT personnel, comprising sanitation workers, engineering staff, and health officials, has been working in severely impacted areas, such as Ramalingeswara Katta, Ranjit Bhargav Road, Gandhi Colony, Eenadu Colony, and Sivashankar Road of Vijayawada.

"Our team members have been working non-stop since their arrival in Vijayawada. We are committed to providing relief on a war footing to those affected by the recent floods", said MCT commissioner N. Maurya, who has been personally overseeing the operations.

The team has been engaged 24/7 in multiple tasks, including clearing silt and debris from clogged drains, pumping out stagnant floodwater, and taking up sanitation measures to prevent outbreak of waterborne diseases. Despite challenging weather conditions, including rains over the weekend, the MCT workforce has waded through knee-deep water, operating heavy machinery, and manually clearing debris.

Commissioner Maurya commended his staff for working dedicatedly day and night in difficult conditions. “They have stayed away from their families and are making a real difference to the lives of Vijayawada's residents at the time of their need," he underlined.

The MCT team is also going door to door, assessing residents' needs and providing immediate assistance. The Tirupati workers are distributing essential supplies and also conducting awareness campaigns on health and hygiene in the aftermath of floods.
