Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has emphasised the need for reforms in the technology sector in AP, in tune with the changing times. Speaking at a review meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday, he outlined plans to transform AP into a hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI) by introducing changes in various policies.

Chief secretary Neerabh Prasad, minister Janardhan Reddy and others discussed policies related to IT, drone manufacturing and semiconductor industries.

Naidu suggested that Ananthapur be presented as a destination for drone production companies. He directed officials to focus on elevating Sri City into a semiconductor hub, which could significantly contribute to the state’s economic diversification and technological advancement.

The chief minister proposed the development of Visakhapatnam as the IT capital of the state, so as to enhance its status in the technology landscape.

Officials said these initiatives reflected the government's proactive approach to harness technological advancements and place AP on the global map as a leader in the tech industry.

Later, the CM stated in a social media post, “Today, I gave directions for three key policies, which will be brought soon by the state government, namely the AP Semiconductor Fab 4.0 (2024-29), the AP Data Centre Policy 4.0 (2024-29), and the AP Drone Policy, with the latter's target set at the Amaravati Drone Summit.”

“The semiconductor policy aims to attract investments in fabs, OSAT, ATMP and compound semiconductor sectors to build a self-sustaining ecosystem. The Data Centre Policy targets 200mw in added capacity, positioning AP as a hub for Al-driven data centres and data embassies.”

“We aim to create a thriving ecosystem for deep-tech innovation and growth, and these policies are an important milestone in that direction,” Naidu concluded.
