Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy inaugurated four new buses at the Visakhapatnam Depot on Sunday as part of his North Andhra tour. The new fleet includes one super luxury bus and three express buses, which will operate on routes connecting Visakhapatnam to Paderu, Vizianagaram, and Amalapuram.

During the inauguration, the minister announced plans to expand the state's bus fleet, including an allocation of approximately 2,000 electric buses to Andhra Pradesh. He also stressed the government's commitment to improving working conditions for transport employees, with a focus on their health and welfare.

“Our transport workers are the backbone of our public transportation system,” the minister said. “We will continue to prioritise their well-being and address their concerns promptly.”

Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao shared that a special committee has been set up to implement free bus services for women passengers, ensuring that this initiative does not impact the financial stability of the Road Transport Corporation (RTC).

RTC Zonal Chairman Donnu Dora assured that there would be regular communication between workers and the government to address ongoing challenges. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of awards, where the minister recognised drivers and conductors for their outstanding performance throughout the year.
