VIJAYAWADA: US Consul General in Hyderabad, Jennifer Larson, called on Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan at the latter's residence in Mangalagiri on Tuesday.

Jennifer congratulated Pawan Kalyan on becoming a lead figure in the new government and presented him a memento. Pawan Kalyan reciprocated the gesture and felicitated Jennifer Larson and her team.

The two discussed the opportunities for investments in business and development projects in Andhra Pradesh. Kalyan said the state has a politically stable, investor-friendly government that provides support to investors.

“AP has youth that are ready to embrace changing and evolving technology, and it would be a boon if they are given adequate support to pursue higher education in the USA,” Pawan said, adding that the state government is ready to support eco-friendly initiatives.

Later in the day, Jennifer and her team met human resources development minister Nara Lokesh. In a social media post, Lokesh said, “Telugus account for almost 14% of all Indian Americans. I believe they have strengthened ties between India and the US, enriching our communities and showcasing the beauty of our culture, diversity and heritage. We look forward to Andhra Pradesh playing a greater role in further enhancing this bond.”

Shedding light on their meeting with Pawan and Lokesh, Jennifer Larson stated, “Delighted to meet Pawan and learn more about harnessing the potential of Andhra Pradesh youth for the development of the state. We look forward to working with him in the future to unlock the potential of the youth of Andhra Pradesh.”

“Enjoyed my conversation with Lokesh, on how the US and Andhra Pradesh can strengthen technological ties, especially in the area of Artificial Intelligence, and how Andhra Pradesh seeks to leverage AI for better delivery of citizen services,” she said.
