Uttarakhand, AP Hold Talks to Explore Export of Fish Products

 Visakhapatnam: In an effort to explore the export potentials for the cold water fish trout; Uttarakhand fisheries minister Saurabh Bahuguna and B.V.A.C. Purushottam, the official from the fisheries department of Andhra Pradesh, had an interaction with the leading exporters here recently. The farming of trout variety of fish is done in Uttarakhand in a big way.

In the meeting, officials from the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA) also provided an overview on Andhra Pradesh’s fish product exports. Discussions were also held to find out the export potential of trout fish and other fish varieties. Fisheries commissioner T. Dolashankar gave a detailed presentation on Andhra Pradesh’s aquaculture, fish products, and export activities.

The discussion also focused on using the expertise and resources of both the states to give a boost to export of fish products. Speaking on the occasion, Uttarakhand minister Bahuguna stressed on strategic partnership between the two states so as to tap the growing demand for high-quality fish products globally, particularly the trout variety from Uttarakhand. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue dialogues as well as exploring steps for the export of fish products.

Prominent among those participated in the meeting include Pawan Kumar, president of the National Seafood Exporters Association; Anand Kumar from District Seafood Exporters; Vijay Kumar, joint director of MPEDA, and P. Lakshmana Rao, joint director of the fisheries department and others.
