Vana Mahotsavam celebrated at combined Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: To promote environmental conservation, district officials in combined Visakhapatnam highlighted the importance of tree planting during Vana Mahotsavam-2024 events on Friday. Collector M.N. Harendira Prasad urged citizens to engage in tree-planting efforts to enhance environmental health. At the "Vanam-Manam" event at Andhra University Engineering College, he and principal chief conservator of Forests S.S. Sridhar planted saplings and inaugurated the programme. The event was attended by Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat, chief conservator of forests Srikant Nath Reddy, and other officials.

In Kummariputtu, ASR Collector A.S. Dinesh Kumar emphasised collaborative forest development and the state’s goal to increase forest cover to 33 per cent, with a government target of 50 per cent. Local MLA Matsyarasa Vishweshwara Rao joined him in planting saplings. Over 35,000 saplings were planted across the district daily, highlighting the commitment to sustainable development and forest protection.
