Vijayawada: Murderer of Sheep Trader Arrested

 Vijayawada: Santhamaguluru police on Saturday arrested the accused in the murder of a 32-year-old sheep trader at Gurijepalli village on Chavetipalem Road on March 7, 2024.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ravulapalli Naga Prasad, 24, a resident of Pathareddy Palem village in Nuzendla mandal of Palnadu district. Police seized from him Rs 2.80 lakh cash he stole from the deceased, apart from two cell phones and a motorbike used during the crime.

Disclosing case details to media, Santhamaguluru circle inspector K. Narasimha Rao said based on a complaint by Gurijepalli VRO Sk. Abdul Subhani that an unidentified body has been found at the farm estate in Gurijepalli village, police registered a case and started investigation.

They identified the body as that of Mediboina Anjaneyulu, a sheep trader. Anjaneyulu and accused Naga Prasad had been friends who visited Sunday markets in Vinukonda, Chilakaluripeta and nearby areas to sell sheep.

On March 7, Anjaneyulu had started from home with Rs 3 lakh to purchase sheep. He came across Naga Pradesh and they both got drunk at a farm estate. Naga Prasad then strangled Anjaneyulu to death and vanished with ₹3 lakh, leaving the body at the estate.

Following a complaint by Gurijepalli VRO, police booked a case, took up investigation and arrested Naga Prasad.

Bapatla SP Vakul Jindal has appreciated Santhamaguluru inspector Narasimha Rao, sub-inspector P. Suresh and their team for arresting the accused and recovering a major part of the stolen cash.
