Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Dairy chairman Adari Anand and nine of the company’s directors resigned from the primary membership of the YSRC on Friday. Anand and the directors submitted their resignation letters to the central party office.
Explaining his decision, Anand stated that he wanted to devote his full time to the development of the dairy. Among the directors is Pilla Rama Kumari, Anand's sister.

Anand had previously contested the Visakhapatnam West Assembly seat in the general elections but lost to veteran TD leader P.V.G.R. Naidu (Ganababu).

Anand had been with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for a long time, as his late father, Adari Tulasi Rao, was a founding member of the party and close to N.T. Rama Rao. In the 2019 general elections, Anand contested the Anakapalli Lok Sabha seat but lost to YSRC candidate Dr. K. Satyavathi. Later that year, he switched to YSRC.
