Visakhapatnam: J.V. Ratnam, founder secretary of the Green Climate Team NGO, has emphasised the importance of cultivating medicinal plants, indigenous vegetables, and greens.

During a tree plantation event at an educational institute on Saturday, Ratnam stressed the need for biodiversity conservation as a collective responsibility. “By incorporating medicinal plants into our environment, we can foster a healthier ecosystem and potentially discover new remedies,” he said. Ratnam further highlighted the significance of preserving indigenous crops for their nutritional value and resilience.

The NGO distributed saplings of various fruit, vegetable, and green varieties to the educational institution. The school administration expressed gratitude for the initiative and pledged to involve students in environmental conservation efforts.
