Visakhapatnam: The City of Destiny, with its diverse landscapes and tranquil water bodies, is all set for the arrival of migratory birds on their winter sojourn from far.

Each year, thousands of avian visitors from remote regions flock to the wetlands, including Meghadri Gedda, and the coastal areas of the city. These locations become vibrant with various species such as Ruddy Shelducks, Northern Pintails, Northern Shovelers, Gadwalls and Pacific Golden Plovers, among others.
The arrival of these migratory birds enhances Vizag's natural beauty and underscores the imperative of conserving these habitats to ensure their safe passage and survival.
The presence of these species highlights the region's ecological importance and the need for wildlife conservation.
Documents the Wildlife Conservation Through Research and Education (WCTRE), “The influx of migratory birds serves as a poignant reminder of the fragile balance of nature and the human responsibility in its preservation. In order to periodically welcome these avian visitors to Vizag, it is imperative that the city commits itself to protect and nurture its natural habitats. This is crucial for the future of these migratory species."

"The denizens have a rare opportunity to experience the melodic calls and breathtaking views of these migratory birds," states Vivek N Rathod, board member and Avian Enthusiast, at WCTRE. He urged the citizens of Vizag to explore the enchanting realm of migratory birds at the Meghadri Gedda downstream channel and adjacent airport areas.
"One can observe vibrant species such as Ruddy Shelducks, Northern Pintails, Gadwalls and Pacific Golden Plovers. The tranquil waters come alive with their captivating presence," he adds.
