Visakhapatnam: Lawyers from Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Parvathipuram Manyam district courts felicitated 10 High Court judges for helping in the process of getting Rs.100 crore for the construction of a new district court complex in Vizianagaram.

At a function organised by the members of Vizianagaram Bar Association in Vizianagaram on Sunday, the high court judges said the lawyers of Vizianagaram, particularly the younger lot, should take the responsibility and supervise the construction.

They said they fulfilled their task as administrative judges and that no special efforts were made to get the funds. Vizianagaram district administrative judge Tarlada Rajasekhara Rao presided over the function. Gujarat High Court judge Cheekati Manavendranath Roy, Allahabad High Court judge Donadi Ramesh, AP High Court judges Cheemalapati Ravi, Nainala Jayasurya, K. Manmadha Rao, G. Ramakrishna Prasad, Nimmagadda Venkateswarulu, B. Krishna Mohan and K. Suresh Reddy were present on the occasion.

Manavendranath Roy said the existing court building was built on an abandoned pond and hollow sand and hence it got damaged in 30 years.

He said it was due to determination of the Vizianagaram Bar Association members and help coming from high court lawyers, the funds were sanctioned for the new building.

"As a native of Vizianagaram district, I too wanted to contribute something for the new court complex," Manavendranath Roy said.

AP High Court judge Nainala Jayasurya said the younger lawyers should treat the new complex as a temple.

Vizianagaram district judge Sai Kalyana Chakravarthy, Vizianagaram Bar Association president A. Harish and senior advocate K.V.S.N. Thammanna also spoke.
