Vizianagaram Cops Launch Road Safety Campaign for Auto Drivers
Visakhapatnam: The Vizianagaram district police organised an awareness programme for auto drivers on Wednesday to promote road safety and curb traffic violations. Traffic circle inspector Suri Naidu reported that the district has approximately 22,000 auto rickshaws, with around 5,800 operating in Vizianagaram town daily. He noted that traffic difficulties arise due to irresponsible and disorderly parking by auto drivers on local roads.
Speaking at the programme, district superintendent of police Vakul Jindal stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility. He highlighted that most road accidents and traffic issues are caused by the negligence of auto drivers. The SP emphasised that adherence to traffic laws by drivers would reduce not only road accidents but also traffic congestion in most cases.
Auto rickshaw drivers were instructed to ensure they have the proper documentation, such as registration papers, driver's licences, insurance policies, and pollution control certificates.
