Vizianagaram Municipal Council Approves Rs 156.93 Cr Budget for 2025-26

VISHAKHAPATNAM: The Vizianagaram municipal council has officially approved its annual budget of Rs 156.93 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal on Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by Mayor Vijayalakshmi. The budget was presented by commissioner Palli Nallanaya and a discussion followed.
The mayor said the council's primary goal is to foster the city's development with the cooperation of all. The budget aims to enhance facilities for the residents. The commissioner said this year's budget included innovative elements and adopted a new approach to funding the city’s development.
An impressive allocation of Rs 72.45 crore has been made for development projects. This includes Rs 10 crore for new roads from the general funds, Rs 12 crore for development works under the provisions of the 15th Finance Commission, Rs 1 crore for constructing primary health centres, and Rs 1.5 crore for horticulture and urban beautification.
Additionally, Rs 5 crore is earmarked for sewer and culvert construction, Rs 1 crore for lighting parks and junctions, and Rs 1.5 crore for development of parks and sports grounds.

Plans are also to have a corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund to encourage voluntary donations from citizens, so as to bolster the financial support for municipal initiatives.
