VMC Commissioner Drives Mosquito Control in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: As per the instructions of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for preventing diseases caused by mosquitoes, modern methods are to be adopted to control mosquito larvae in canals in Vijayawada city. On Thursday, VMC commissioner Dhyanachandra inspected the Budameru canal in Ramakrishnapuram. He emphasised the need for continuous removal of waste using Truxor machines to prevent waste buildup, which provides breeding grounds for mosquito larvae.
The commissioner also instructed that ML oil should be continuously sprayed using drones in areas where workers cannot reach to control mosquitoes. This would help prevent diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya caused by mosquitoes, he stated.
He further added that the waste on the canal bund should be cleaned regularly and greenery should be developed around the canal. This not only reduces pollution but also decreases carbon dioxide levels, thus increasing oxygen levels, which improves public health, he said. He emphasised the use of Truxor machines to continuously remove accumulated waste in Bandar, Eluru, and Ryves canals in Vijayawada city to control mosquito spread.
