VMRDA to develop parks and stadiums in Vizag using CSR funds

Visakhapatnam: Corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from local corporate companies would be requisitioned to develop parks and stadiums here under the aegis of the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
VMRDA’s new chairperson Pranav Gopal announced the plans on Wednesday. He, along with MLA (East) Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu and metropolitan commissioner KS Viswanathan inaugurated the Adventure Sports - Zip Liner and Sky-Cycling facilities on Kailasagiri.
These recreational facilities, established in collaboration with Sri Sai Moksha Shipping & Logistics, were developed at a cost of `2 crore to boost the tourism push for the region.
Gopal emphasized the importance of leveraging CSR funds to create more recreational spaces in the city. He cited the ongoing construction of a glass bridge, set for completion by April 2025.
The initiative to develop parks and stadiums is part of a broader vision to improve the quality of life in Visakhapatnam by providing accessible and well-maintained public spaces, Gopal told Deccan Chronicle.
The newly inaugurated adventure sports facilities on Kailasagiri are expected to draw significant tourist interest.He stated, “The collaboration with corporate entities underscores the potential for public-private partnerships in driving regional development and enhancing the city's infrastructure.”
